Editorial Commentary: Suture Button–Anchor Fixation Is Preferable to Hook Plate Fixation for Acute Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocations: Form and Function Need to Be United

چکیده

Both hook plate fixation and suture button–anchor have been reported to yield good results in the treatment of acute acromioclavicular joint reconstruction. In addition a mandatory secondary procedure, clearly has an increased prevalence post-traumatic arthritis short term that is likely progress long term. Conversely, fixation—a minimally invasive technique creates less soft-tissue disruption, does not require hardware removal, violate joint—is more promote primary healing coracoclavicular ligaments, reduce risk late displacement, minimize development arthritis. As stated by noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright, it only about form (i.e., alignment), function as well.

Comparison of Results between Hook Plate Fixation and Ligament Reconstruction for Acute Unstable Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation

BACKGROUND In the present study, we aimed to compare clinical and radiographic outcomes between hook plate fixation and coracoclavicular (CC) ligament reconstruction for the treatment of acute unstable acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation. METHODS Forty-two patients who underwent surgery for an unstable acute dislocation of the AC joint were included. We divided them into two groups accor...

Hook plate fixation for acute acromioclavicular dislocations without coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction: a functional outcome study in military personnel

The aim of our study was to evaluate the shoulder function after clavicular hook plate fixation of acute acromioclavicular dislocations (Rockwood type III) in a population group consisting exclusively of high-demand military personnel. This prospective study was carried out at a tertiary care military orthopaedic centre during 2012-2013 using clavicular hook plate for management of acromioclavi...

Double-button Fixation System for Management of Acute Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation

Background: Surgical treatments for acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation present with some complications. The present study was designed to evaluate the double-button fixation system in the management of acute acromioclavicular joint dislocation. Methods: This cross sectional study, done between February 2011 to June 2014, consisted of 28 patients who underwent surgical management by the ...

Arthroscopic fixation of type III acromioclavicular dislocations.

Type III Acromio-Clavicular Joint dislocations can be treated successfully by surgical stabilisation in situ, with or without reconstruction of the coracoclavicular ligaments. The authors describe a simple and reliable mode of fixation, performed arthroscopically. The technique can be used for in situ fixation, or as part of an arthroscopically assisted Weaver and Dunn procedure. Using a metall...

Comparison of Acute Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation Treatment by Screw Fixation with and without Ligament Reconstruction

Background & Aims: Acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation is common in shoulder injuries. Considering the biomechanics of this joint, the use of a treatment method, which can restore joint physiology and biomechanics to the extent possible, is important. This study aimed to compare the treatment of acute AC joint dislocation by screw fixation with and without ligament reconstruction. Me...
